Before 30 years: Aliens landed for the first time on earth. Humans wait since then on the hostile encroachment or on the gigantic technological progress. But nothing of it happened. While the whole world discussed, what was to happen with them, its spaceship temporarily shifted after District 9, an arm quarter in South Africa.
In order to defuse the increasing fear of humans over the continuous situation, the group takes over Multi National United (MNU) the supervision over the Aliens. These are interested however not to well-being of the refugees, but their own plan them wanted the weapons of the extraterrestial ones to their favour to use. But so far this project failed, since the activation of the weapons functions only with the help of the DNA of the Aliens.
When the agent of the MNU Wikus van the Merwe (Sharlto Copley) infected his self with a mysterious virus, which changes its DNA, he becomes to the usually looked for and at the same time vulnerable man of the earth he is the key, around the secret of the technology of the Aliens to air.
